Stephen has over a decade of experience co–ordinating climate adaptation across the island of Ireland, and analysing adaptation policy across the UK. He is currently playing a core role in both the DEFRA and UKRI-funded 'Maximising UK Adaptation to Climate Change (MACC) Hub' and as partner with Belfast City Council on the EU Horizon-funded 'Pathways2Resilience' Programme.
From 2017-20, he supported Derry City and Strabane District Council through development of the first climate change adaptation plan in the region, and led the Local Government Climate Action Network which had membership of all 11 councils and other agencies, enabling creation of climate adaptation plans across NI.

Stephen has delivered bespoke climate resources and communication tools for public, private and academic partners across a diverse range of sectors, from Health to Agriculture. He has led sessions at international conferences such as the COP26 Climate Summit in Glasgow and the European Climate Change Adaptation Conference (ECCA). He was a Visiting Fellow of the Centre for Sustainability, Equality and Climate Action (SECA) at Queen’s University Belfast, and previously worked as an Adaptation Analyst for the UK Climate Change Committee (CCC).
